Halloween Ghost Garland Using Coffee Filters

This is an amazingly quick craft that transforms your space into a fun, spooky, Halloween Haunt! What's even better is that it is super easy for all ages and makes for wonderful family time.

Homemade Halloween ghost garland made from white coffee filters, each adorned with black marker eyes and mouth, hanging on a string attached to Halloween ribbon. Ribbon is attached to a wooden ceiling beam.

Items Needed:

  • Coffee Filters

  • Sharpie or Permanent Marker

  • Needle & Thread

  • Ribbon

  • Scissors

Craft:

1) With your ribbon, determine the length of your garland and cut to length. I wanted mine to hang a bit in-between the hooks, so I made it longer.

2) On the flat base of the coffee filter, draw a face.

Have fun and make different faces on them!!

3) Scrunch the coffee filter to create the "ghost shape". They don't have to be perfect and/or the same as this is what makes the garland extra amazing!

4) Thread the needle and tie a knot on the end. From the underside of the coffee filter, take the needle up through the midpoint and into the ribbon garland. Knot and snip off from needle.

5) Repeat all of these steps, placing the ghosts any distance and length you like.

I spaced them by about 4 inches, varying the heights on every one. I made the ends the shortest since they overlapped my kitchen table. I did not want people walking into them all of the time!

6) Hang the garland and enjoy.
